Athena has been a cornerstone of Greektown for my family, consistently delivering quality meals over the years. Unfortunately, this visit fell short of their usual standards. Here’s what we experienced: * Chicken Souvlaki: The dish was disappointingly dry, lacking the tenderness we’ve come to expect. * Aginarato (Weekend Leg of Lamb Special): This dish was not up to Athena’s usual quality. The lamb was excessively fatty and still covered in the pleura, a preparation misstep I’ve never encountered in over a decade of ordering their lamb dishes. The meat simply wasn’t prepared properly. * Sides for the Aginarato: The menu promised artichokes and carrots, but we were only served artichokes, which were woody and nearly inedible. * Wine Pour: The wine pour was notably stingy. Athena typically provides a fair pour for $15, but that wasn’t the case this time. * Service: The saving grace of the evening was the service, which remained friendly and prompt, as always. Their waitstaff is always accommodating. Had this been our first visit to Athena, we likely not return. However, given our long-standing positive relationship with this restaurant, we’ll give them another chance to deliver the quality we know they’re capable of.

Great service, from our server to the bus staff, everything was professional, friendly and first rate. My guests and I love the ambiance of Athena and the food is amazing. Athena provides excellent customer service - proving that they take pride in what they do.

I was here to meet friends for Sunday lunch. Something on the menu for everyone and all were happy with their choices. The service was great and free valet parking sealed the deal.
