    A true Italian restaurant with traditional food served with a modern take. The restaurant is in a charming kind of hidden spot. If the weather is good, it's great to be outside. The restaurant is tiny, so reservations and some planning are necessary. I'm a long time Monterey Peninsula inhabitant, and this is by far, my favorite restaurant.

    We really enjoyed the meal we shared. They are short on 1/2 bottles of wine and have a very limited assortment for by the glass. Several choices of our on the menu were not available.

    It is evident that the folks at Basil love cooking and excel at it. I've never had a less than amazing meal there.

    Snuck in a 22% gratuity for a party of 3. And then additional tip option. Then a $5 transaction fee for credit card usage. Sneaky business tactics will make me never come back despite how good food was.

    We had a wonderful meal. The pappardelle bolognese was amazing. The restaurant was extremely loud but that was die to a large family with kids who were yelling uncontrollably. But it does ruin the vibe. We were celebrating a birthday, which we informed the restaurant of weeks in advance, and were a bit disappointed for it not to be acknowledged. Otherwise it’s a favorite location to dine.
