   The staff were very unorganized Had a reservation for 8:15. Didn’t get sat until 9pm.

   Love Benihana’s and their food was amazing. But, we had reservations at 6:00, so I checked in at 6 and they said they are running behind even on reservations, so she told me it was a 30 minute wait. We didn’t get seated until 6:45. I felt bad for the hostess’s, they were so sweet and people were being so mean. I know it’s not their fault, BUT I do think they have been open long enough to know when to cut reservations off so they don’t have to have people with reservations wait. That’s the whole point of reservations. I think they need to re-evaluate how many tables, chefs, chairs they have so they can stay on top of reservations. Or don’t do reservations at all and have it be a first come first served situation.

   The restaurant felt too tightly crammed together. If they removed just one teppanyaki grill, it would create a much more comfortable dining experience. The food was okay, but nothing particularly special. We were visiting from out of town and decided to treat ourselves, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to our expectations. We’ll likely look elsewhere next time we’re in Salt Lake.

   Once again, the food was delicious and the chef was fun. The restaurant front is poorly run. We had a 6:15pm reservation but actually didn’t get to our table until nearly 7:00pm. Then we didn’t get a waitress to even acknowledge us for at least 10 to 15 minutes. After that, the experience was fine. The menu has been reduced which is disappointing. For example, the meal that was NY Strip is no longer an option (?).

   Quantity and quality of food were below average. It was a busy night but service and timing were way off; our appetizer edamame arrived after the entrees and the side that was supposed to come with the entrees arrived nearly 20 minutes later. Drinks weren’t correct and steak was overcooked. There are way better restaurants for the price.

   Everything was great until the end when the waitress kept looking over my shoulder at the tip amount which felt really uncomfortable.

    Our reservation was for 6:30. We showed up on time and were quoted a 25 minute delay. We were finally sat after over an hour delay. The servers did their best to accommodate a busy night but it was very apparent they were understaffed and exhausted. What’s the point of offering reservations if you’re going to be over an hour behind? Part of the allure of Benihana is the experience- we had overly tired and hungry kids, a chef trying to catch up but overall it was not a good experience. Half our table didn’t receive part of their food, and we had to request drink refills and remind the server. I feel for the service staff- they were doing their best. The manager did offer us 50% off which was very generous. I just don’t know that we will ever be back.
