A cute restaurant on the second floor with windows overlooking the Public Gardens. The food was great (oysters were top notch).

We had a very nice evening. The service was very good. Unfortunately two of us Strip Steak and it was just okay. The was a lot of fat on both of our pieces. I always order Strip steak at Davios and have never experienced so much fat on a piece. The chef should have trimmed it off. Honestly it was kind of gross. Also we ordered Baked Alaska. One of my favorites at Orleana. Really did not like your version. It was basically flavorless except for the rum which was excessive. The presentation was nice. On a positive note the ambiance and service were great. Just want to give you an honest opinion. The food was disappointing and we will not be back. Your location is so awesome I think you should work on your food and pastry. Best of luck.

We love Bistro du Midi and often go there on Valentine's Day. This was a bit of an off night though. They tried to skip the 3rd course of the 5-course prix fix dinner and, when they delivered the 4th course, we had to call them on it to get the lobster course (which was the best course of the night!). Later in the evening, as the waitress was refilling our glasses with Tatttinger champagne, I yelled "Not in the water glass" as she poured it into the sparkling water. She replaced the sparkling water. At the end of the evening, they comped us the bottle of Tattinger to make things right.

Valentine’s Day prefix menu was too experimental. The quality was also inconsistent—we found a lobster shell in a dish. Overall, service was great but it was clear the kitchen was overwhelmed.

Bistro du Midi is a wonderfully intimate restaurant with phenomenal food, drinks, and staff. We arrived on time for our reservation and were notified they were running behind but that they would collect us if we sat at the bar. The bartender was kind and attentive and as time passed, we were gently invited back to be seated and allowed time to finish our drinks. We ordered the Valentine’s Day menu, a choice selection through 5 courses. All of the options were phenomenal, we started with a small soup (tea cup sized) which we had anticipated for a larger tasting menu, but by course 3 we were hitting the wall! Portions were outstanding just small enough to be able to finish the next dish but large enough to feel very full by the end! We also ordered the cocktails oui chef, a lemon flavored cocktail and (please forgive me I forgot the name) a smoky combination of mezcal and cognac. Both of which were outstanding! Overall, we felt very satisfied! Being a big event for us we felt that the splurge was worth it, however, candidly it was a *very* large splurge so be prepared!

Dining at Bistro du Midi on Valentine’s Day was an experience filled with both highlights and disappointments. As expected for a high-end establishment on such a busy evening, the restaurant was packed, and the staff worked hard to accommodate everyone. Their effort was commendable, but ultimately, the experience fell short in several ways. The menu promised indulgence, but the execution was inconsistent. The Black Winter Truffle Cauliflower Soup was a major letdown. It arrived in what can only be described as a Turkish coffee mug—shockingly small for a full course. Realistically, this should have been an amuse-bouche, not a plated dish. The Black Winter Truffle Tagliatelle was another disappointment. While truffle is meant to elevate a dish with its rich, earthy aroma, the sauce here was completely tasteless. There was no depth or complexity to the flavor—it felt more like plain pasta with a whisper of truffle rather than the luxurious dish one would expect at this price point. We opted for the optional wine pairing, which was a letdown in terms of value. While the wine selection itself was good, the pouring sizes were laughably small. For the additional cost, we expected something more generous than what felt like tasting pours rather than proper pairings. While some dishes were enjoyable, the inconsistencies in portion sizes and flavor left much to be desired. Given the premium pricing—$195 per person, plus $95 for wine pairing—we walked away feeling like the meal did not justify the cost. There are plenty of high-end restaurants in Boston that offer better execution, larger portions, and a more satisfying dining experience for the same (or lower) price. Would we return? Unlikely.
