   For once, I could enjoy lunch with a friend in a quiet room. My BLT was excellent. Service as one would hope, not intrusive but responsive.

   Showed up at our reservation, had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Service was slow, by the time we got our order taken, not exaggerating, half the menu was out of stock while we continued to see people around us ordering and receiving those items. One of, if not the worst, dining experiences I’ve had in Chicago.

   The space is cozy and I would describe it as southern farmhouse meets modern glimmer. Food was excellent - the deviled eggs are to die for, fried chicken, shrimp and grits, and Mac and cheese were a hit. We also had the pirogies because those are pretty unique and the purple cabbage bed they were served on was delicious. The Cobb salad was hearty. Pecan cake had a little flavor of banana and the frosting was Devine.

   I enjoy Blue Door, but I’ve only dined in the summer in their outdoor patio. This is the first time I dined inside for brunch. The food was very good as always, but the noise level was off the charts! The fact that my dining companion and I had to shout at each other to converse made for an exhausting experience. As we were leaving, I noticed the patio is now enclosed for the season. I didn’t realize that was an option when we reserved. Maybe the noise level is lower there.
