Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Bonavista Revolving Lounge at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel offers "awesome rotating views of downtown LA" and an upscale atmosphere. While the drinks are "strong" and food "delicious," service can be slow. The ambiance and 360-degree views make it "the perfect place for a date," though the menu could offer more variety.

Enjoyed our time at the lounge! The crab lettuce wraps were good. Sauce a bit spicey. Spring rolls were good & the sauce. Green beans were stringy & tough. Not much flavor. Great atmosphere!

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE! We booked from Switzerland the NYE dinner because we had been there once before and wanted a nice time in the revolving restaurant. The man at the reception desk wasn't friendly, then he flanked us to a table facing an outdoor spotlight that dazzled us. The platform wasn't running because they were setting up the equipment for an orchestra. And the mandatory consumption was a minimum of 75 dollars per person, which was not indicated on the site. This expense is okay for such an evening, but if the platform turns ! That’s the reason why we wanted to go there. We gave up and ended up in the hotel lobby for a burger 🤔 Boycott the place. We will never go back.

We came here for dinner on NYE. Upon our arrival the elevators to get to the restaurant were broken. It was packed in the lobby with only 1 elevator available. Once we entered the elevator. It began to go up to the 35th floor and got stuck several times on multiple different floors. As a result, I had to call on my phone to reach security to help us get out of a stuck elevator. Luckily the lead security person named Teresa Coached me through what to do to get everyone off of the elevator to ensure everyone’s safety. We finally arrived up to the 35th floor using another elevator after we were evacuated out of the first elevator. At that point, the dinner went really well however to get to the restaurant was very challenging and dangerous honestly. Hopefully the hotel can do better because it makes the restaurant experience not as much of a pleasurable one and put people safety on the line.

Unfortunately this will probably be my first and last visit to the Bonavista Revolving Lounge, 3 stars for the revolving experience, 2 for pretty much everything else. Food was overpriced and underwhelming, we were there for an early New Year’s Eve dinner and it was empty but there was still a 90 minute max dining time. We went to the Bonavista Brewery after for a drink and desert and wished we had just gotten a drink at the lounge and dinner at the brewery. It was my first time staying at the Bonaventure and it was clear its heyday has long passed and the Bonavista is a prime example of that….hopefully it can be revitalized.

The lounge used to be an exciting place to go. Sadly, this will probably be the last time we go there. To start off with two out of three elevators were broken, and so the crowds were all trying to travel 34 floors on one elevator that kept breaking down because it could not handle the weight. People had to keep exiting the elevator in order for it to continue traveling up to the 34th floor. So it took us about 25 minutes just to get from the lobby to the lounge. Once we were in the lounge, we were seated to a table with only two settings, but there were three of us and we never received the third setting, even though I asked several times. The waitress was very nice, but I don’t think there is an attention to detail. The biggest complaint is that the food was terrible for me. The vegetarian options were just horrible. I had to order a second beer just to have a good dinner. My dinner was two beers my family, however enjoyed their chicken dishes. I ordered the spring rolls which were terrible and the green beans that didn’t even have the ends cut off, and i had to chew off the ends There were awesome views of course. This place definitely needs a facelift. If you wanna go for the views then just get drinks And if you go for a special occasion, I would suggest choosing some other place.

The fact that we sat with a view that changed every time we glanced up it was lovely. The food however could have had better options. Maybe combine the menu with the steakhouse upstairs or let us order from it for the Lounge. The food was a little overpriced as well but considering the atmosphere it was expected, wish there were more options. And more dessert options too.

service was very slow, food was almost unedable and overpriced, we understand that we are paying for the place, but food and drinks has to improve.
