Founded almost 25 years ago by power-couple Thierry & Patricia Moity (former owners of Patou in Charlotte, NC & Cafe de Bruxelles in NYC) with 50+ years of culinary expertise across Europe and America, Caprice Bistro continues to welcome Wilmington foodies with their exceptional cuisine. According to Chef Thierry, “I want everyone to feel welcome in my restaurant. We are working against the stereotype that French food must be intimidating.” New owners Dustin Cook & Edie Senter - in addition to the long-time staff members like Chef Chris Nash & Cocktail Craftmaster Kat - intend to keep honoring that legacy at this downtown staple!

The Caprice never disappoints. Food was delicious. The escargot, waterzooie and desserts were delicious. The service was terrific and my French 75 cocktail was a pleasure. The noise level showed the people were happy being at the Caprice!

Caprice had been one of my favorite restaurants for fifteen plus years. Unfortunately of late it has slipped a little on the food and cocktail front. My cocktail ( the Frenchi) which I’ve had there for years was unbalanced for the first time ever.. tasted like a totally different drink. My halibut was under seasoned , but still good. Service under the new owners was excellent, but overall our meal was a little underwhelming.

Felt very rushed. Was in and out in an hour. Asked for another drink was told it would be 15 mins. Server was not attentive and felt he just wanted out so they could fill the table. Been to caprice bistro many times and this was not a good experience

It was not our first visit and it won’t be our last. I absolutely love the charm and ambiance in this restaurant but the food and service would keep us coming back no matter what the place looked like. I had the goat cheese salad and my husband has the butternut squash soup - a special the day we visited. Both tasted so delicious and the portions were very nice. For dinner I had the afternoon - a speciality of the restaurant. The broth is creamy but light - I know it sounds odd - but it is not a heavy broth. It is rich and the perfect medium for the delicious seafood which was all cooked perfectly. Scallops, shrimp, salmon, white fish (sorry have no idea what it was but delicious! and mussels. My husband had the beef Bourgogne which he loved and mopped up every ounce of sauce with the crispy French bread. We were so full but made room to share the pistachio crème brûlée. A thin layer of crispy caramelized sugar covered a creamy a custard. However I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the service. Our server was both attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wines - the food arrived timely and temperate which rounded out the wonderful experience.

It was difficult to talk to the person I came with because it was too loud. The proprietors should pay attention to acoustics to improve the dining experience at their restaurant.

The new owners have a lot to learn, only one server upstairs for 42 people and 12 tables Past owners will be missed, been eating there for 18 years Took 35 minutes after being seated to get a drink served… great long term bartender had no help Food is good as usual Surly wait staff thought it funny to substitute real coffee in lieu of ordered decaffeinated Ice cold mild substituted in lieu of traditional froth warm cream, not going bk for a while

Thank you for your valued feedback, every comment is a chance to learn. The staffing has not changed since we've taken over there has always been one server and a back waiter scheduled upstairs and the bartender has always served the entire restaurant. We will make sure that you receive warm milk with you coffee. This is something we are happy to provide upon request, we have notated your reservation to reflect the warm milk request with your coffee. We never substitute decaffeinated for regular coffee, we have amazing decaf roast in house from Luna Cafe on Castle St. Thank you for supporting family owned local small business, we look forward to exceeding your expectations on your next visit.
