After 40 years, my customers still tell me what a delightful discovery it is to step out of a Boston alley and into the heart of Mexico. That is exactly what I had envisioned when I decorated the coffered door and walls of my restaurant with the bright Talavera tiles from Puebla, Mexico. Casa Romero is located in the midst of glamorous Back Bay at 30 Gloucester and offers the best traditional Mexican food in Boston.

The hostess Stella was very rude over the phone, and she made us wait even if we had a reservation whenwearrived at the restaurant. The food was good, and the service from the server was also good. But the table that we got seated was tight and uncomfortable.

Great food and atmosphere. The service was almost too attentive and we felt rushed. The drinks are expensive but very good.

The recommendation of the Cilantro Margarita was spot on, soooo good. The combination of the flavors were amazing. The ensalada batabel with chicken delicious. One of the best guacamole's I've have. My other half got the carne asada and chicken enchilada and enjoyed that ver much as well. Overall our experience was stellar from the seating, service, food, and drinks. Oh and let's not forget the churros, only photo, I almost didn't get.

Food quality was not good. While our server was nice, we were greeted with, would you like chips salads and guac? Yes, yes we do. Two baskets probably, right? Why yes. How thoughtful. 20 min later….oh-menu is on the QR code guess how much chips, salsa and guac are per basket? $15!!!!! Guess how much we were charged for 2? $35!! So not only poor food, bait and switch, and you charged me more that the menu price. Unbelievable. Also, NEVER order the fajitas. It’s stewed meat in mole sauce. Oh. Don’t let me forget about our server sneezing on our table too.

Tight space, servers barely avoiding touching my arm as I eat. Also super loud despite not many customers because the staff were too loud cleaning/dropping utensils etc.
