After 40 years, my customers still tell me what a delightful discovery it is to step out of a Boston alley and into the heart of Mexico. That is exactly what I had envisioned when I decorated the coffered door and walls of my restaurant with the bright Talavera tiles from Puebla, Mexico. Casa Romero is located in the midst of glamorous Back Bay at 30 Gloucester and offers the best traditional Mexican food in Boston.

Food was non-authentic mexican, mole sauce very thin. We got squeezed between two large, loud tables. Bus-person took our drinks away before we were done, had us in and out in 75 mins, whole thing felt rushed. Social media overhyped this spot.

Food was delicious. Such a fun little hideaway off the main drag in the back bay. When you’ve found it, you’ve found a gem. Best Mexican food I’ve had in a very long time.

Very welcoming, attentive and helpful service especially by the barmen. We have thoroughly enjoyed our recent two visits. The Baked Cheese w/chorizo was great as were our main courses of chicken fajitas and ahi tuna tacos. The Margaritas have all been very good. We will return to this neighborhood gem often.

I think the cost of the margaritas is excessive. $14-15 seems more reasonable for the size
