Located on the affluent Great Neck corridor in Virginia Beach, just three miles from the Oceanfront, Coastal Grill is as famous for what isn't on the menu as for what actually is. Owner Jerry Bryan with Executive Chef Maureen Cucchiaro and Chef de Cusine Brad Bates at the stove, offer an extensive list of "blackboard specials," always with a nice assortment of freshly caught regional seafood. This locals favorite has received critical acclaim since its inception over 25 years ago, culminating in being voted the Number 1 Restaurant by Hampton Roads Magazine. Amazing food. Every bite was melt in your mouth lovely. It was a birthday meal. Calamari was perfect. Crab cakes were the best I’ve ever tasted, truly. Duck in a cherry sauce melted in the mouth. Carrot cake with rum sauce more than delectable. Ambiance and food led us into the sweetest conversation about our years celebrating. What a pleasure to discover Coastal Grill. The only caveat is that it is more expensive than Open Table posts. It should have three dollar signs by its listing, not two. For this lovely meal the cost was high. But goodness, it was wonderful.

We enjoyed 4 delicious dinners at Coastal Grill. 2 NY Strip steaks, salmon and shrimp and grits. All were hot when we received them and just as we ordered. Our server was very attentive . We look forward to our next visit.

Outstanding experience at Coastal Grill. From the valet guys parking the car to the cocktails, food and wine. The service is attentive without being intrusive. Be warned the desserts are amazing. The ambience is comfortable without being stuffy. Coastal Grill is worth the visit.
