Something has changed. Imperial was consistently reliable as a place of innovative Asian food, a varied menu, and quiet dining.
Perhaps a new chef has taken over? The crab-cheese wontons were tough on the outside instead of lightly crispy. There was no black bean sauce on Chilean Sea Bass, only generic brown sauce. The Peking Duck, always a favorite, was dry.
Our waiter was very attentive when he was at the table, but I think they are running on a very small staff. It took a long time to get water refilled, and we couldn't find him for many minutes.
Then there was the music, a very strange 70's funk that was way too loud. Not sure we will go back anytime soon.
