Best Californian Restaurants in Encino

This is our once a year celebration spot because every single year the meal is a complete delight from ambiance, service, to food preparation, presentation, and flavors. We always tip more than 20% because they more than deserve it. We 💝 this neighborhood gem!

What a great experience. Our server, Arwyn (spelling) was marvelous on all counts. I had the butternut squash soup, which was beautiful and delicious. For my entree, I had the bass…it was cooked perfectly, succulent with a crispy, well seasoned skin. We shared the Chestnut Rocks dessert, which was unique in both presentation and flavors. We’re so glad Arwyn recommended it. This restaurant isn’t cheap but well worth the expense, in my view.

Magnificent service. Some of the best. The Yule log—sublime! The pigs in a blanket—imagine what that might be like with a master pastry chef! Shrimp cocktail—how often is it merely passable? Here it is of a uniformly exquisite tenderness. I want to say again, the SERVICE. This place is an industry standard but is generally underrated. Visit it again.

Great food consistently and good service. A neighborhood gem.

We have been coming to Mistral for over 30 years, and it has never disappointed. The service is always great, the food is consistently delicious, and we are welcomed like old friends, even if we had taken a long break between visits, as was necessitated by having a newborn And having to eat in family type restaurants for his first 10 years. Even then, we would make sure we got in a visit to Mistral at least three times a year. Prior to that we dined here pretty much weekly. We always joke that it’s our little Manhattan bistro in the heart of Sherman Oaks. Great date night spot!
