I was very happy to get a reso at such late notice but noticed that it said we’d be dining outside. When I called they told me that it meant we could be sitting in the Venda deli where they would be setting up tables and serving the same food if there were no tables inside when I get there. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed. The hostess who was fantastic told us that we would have to wait about 20 mins. By the time I went to the bar and got drinks for us she came and got us to be seated in the main restaurant upstairs. I honestly don’t know how they were able to accommodate so many people, so efficiently. It obviously was not like a normal day but they did a great job working hard to please their customers. We were very impressed at how fast we got served and how pleasant the staff was in the midst of the very busy evening. The amount of care and attention that went into the decor was second to none! The roses hanging from the ceiling was stunning! Now, let’s talk about the meal, four course prefixed menu for two people and only 150.00!! Are you kidding? The choices were fantastic and the plates came out of the kitchen looking like masterpieces . I had the pistachio encrusted cod with beet gnocchi, fantastic! My guy had flank steak over mashed with vegetables, the meat was cooked beautifully. Our wait staff Alex took great care of us! The entire staff was great from the wait staff to the servers to the complimentary valet which is a bonus on Federal Hill. We opted for Massimo's Monday Night Wine + Dine set price menu because they included terrific gluten free Italian options - to include GF bread. We shared the Baby Spinach, Caramelized Onion, Gorgonzola, Candied Walnuts, Pancetta, Balsamic Vinaigrette Salad, Calamari Fritti, Shrimp Scampi and Gnocchi margherita - all cooked beautifully. We parted ways on dessert so there was Tiramisu, Cannoli, and we even added a Cheesecake with Cherries. Needless to say, we are not afraid of a great meal! We will be back! I ordered the Cajun Chicken Sandwich with fresh greens...it was delicious, the sauce was not overwhelming the bread was so tasty and the chicken cooked perfectly. One diner ordered a salad with shrimp and raved about it. Our other friend ordered Chicken Milanese which looked delicious and was very good according to her. For dessert they ordered and split a chocolate torte with coffee chunk ice cream and it was to die for. Our server was wonderful, the place was fairly full for a weekday at noon and very comfortable.
