Best Italian Restaurants in Hamilton

The food was really good but incredibly rich. I feel like they need a better balance of things that are rich and then light such as more salads for light vegetables setting and interior decorating was very cute but the chairs made absolutely zero sense. It was like sitting in someone’s living room the chairs were so low sunken Table above your chest, which was absolutely bizarre. Jonathan was so sweet but clearly overworked we saw a manager walking around multiple times and never once came over to ask how we were doing in our team dress when we asked where the bathrooms were.

Sammy's was delicious! The atmosphere was wonderful and our waitress was extremely attentive and friendly! Only downside was the timing. We had a reservation at 5:45 with tickets to an event at 7:30 which was only 1 block away. Upon being seated, our waitress told us that we should immediately put our order in because they were so busy (as many people had reservations for the same event as its one of the only restaurants nearby). Even with putting our order in within being seated for 10 minutes, we had to rush eating our meal as it arrived around almost 6:50 pm. Restaurant needs to be aware that they will be that busy when there are events on a particular evening and either take less reservations or bring in more staff so that the wait for food doesn't take an hour (we were only a party of two people).

Overall the food was good. However, the crab cake was not as good, to much seasoning and filling less crab meat.

I cannot think of anything worse than having to work on Christmas day in a public facing role. So I was overjoyed that our server at Valentino's for our Christmas dinner was outstanding--smiling, polite, and perfectly attentive. The food was very good and the portions were huge. I had to take half of my dinner home and order my dessert to go. The special holiday menu with turkey, ham, and a vegetarian option was especially appreciated as grandma said that having a Christmas dinner at an Italian restaurant "did not sound like Christmas." Thank you to Valentino's staff for making our holiday a little less family drama and a lot more delicious.
