We are centrally located off Hwy. 101 in San Rafael, across for the famous Frank Lloyd Wright Marin Civic Center. La Toscana is a family owned and operated Italian restaurant and bar located in Marin County. It was established in 1985 by Paolo Mori, his wife, Marilyn, and Michele Quilici. The owners all grew up in Lucca, Italy and immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1950s. Chef and co— owner Giovanni Racanello joined La Toscana in 1986. Found out today that bread is no longer served but now must be ordered. A disappointment after years of receiving fresh bread with delicious olive oil and balsamic vinegar at the start of a meal. This little thing, always seems to differentiate your restaurant from the competition. It’s only a small $4 to order bread now but we received day old bread because it’s no longer a daily staple before lunch. I guess times are hard for everyone. Just thought u should hear of our disappointment in our recent experience. Staff are always cordial, friendly and prompt.

The food is off the charts! Always something unique and fresh on the menu. But the standard entrees are excellent as well. Everything is homemade - love the focaccia bread! Service is prompt and friendly. Also a great wine selection. Always a great night out at Valenti.
