- PPaulineEssex •1 review5.0Dined 5 days agoMy partner and I had lunch at the Red Lion on Saturday 14th December. We chose this pub as it was fairly near the station and offered real ale. We really enjoyed our meal - I chose the pork and my partner had a burger. Both were really nicely cooked and very tasty. Plus sticky toffee pudding to finish! We were seated in the conservatory, which was very pleasant with nice views over the river. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The total for 2 mains, 2 puddings, 2 cold drinks and 2 hot drinks was £70 before service, which I considered good value overall. The pub was busy but we did not feel under any pressure to vacate our table. The only slight negatives were the dog treats on the floor under our table and a loud person sitting behind us. The latter is not the pub's fault, of course! In summary we would definitely visit again and would recommend the pub to others.More infoThe Red Lion BishopgatePrice: Moderate• Gastro Pub• Norwich•4.3
- DDanielleNorfolk/Suffolk •1 review5.0Dined on 11 Dec 2024A lovely little find. We arrived early but were seated straight away. A lovely warm greeting and a beautiful old world style venue, a few other people eating, and some locals drinking in the bar for 4 in the afternoon, it still had a lovely atmosphere. I can only imagine what it must be like on a Sunday afternoon when it's buzzing with more people. A fantastic choice of food on the menu to suit a variety of tastes. And all very reasonably priced. The leek and potato soup was delicious, as was the homemade steak and ale pie. Not a soggy bottom in sight! The chocolate brownie and ice cream was a hit with my daughter, and my apple and raspberry crumble was to die for. A starter, 3 main courses, 2 desserts and 3 drinks just over £90 which for a beautiful setting and nice full content tummies, I personally thought was great value for money. They have a wonderful undercover garden area out the back, which we will definitely be making a visit to in the summer months. Overall a very pleasant visit to celebrate my husbands birthday and a lovely start to an evening spent at the Thursford Spectacular.More infoThree SwallowsPrice: Moderate• Pub• Blakeney•4.4
