- DDouglasVIPPhiladelphia County •50 reviews5.0Dined 1 day agoWhen you find yourself in New Bedford, MA, treat yourself to a meal at The Black Whale. Extremely convenient location, plenty of parking and a beautiful building make a great first impression. We were warmly greeted by a Manager and a Server, and even though we were 40 minutes early, they sat us straight away. The menu is extensive, however, not overwhelming, and SO many great choices. Our Server, Meredith was very warm and welcoming, starting us off with water and their delectable salmon dip with tasty “crackers”. To aid the decision making process, my wife started with a Painkiller, and I a Maine Lunch. We finally decided on the tuna poke bowl for my wife and the pan-seared scallops for me. Oh, and I had to try the New England Clam Chowder, the best I have had in quite some time. Then Meredith informed me the chowder is an Officials and People’s choice award winner from this year’s festival. Please do try it! Honestly one of the most delightful, delicious and enjoyable meals I’ve had in the area. The Black Whale is definitely a must do when you find yourself in the New Bedford area, or you are just passing through.More infoThe Black WhalePrice: Expensive• Seafood• New Bedford•4.8

- CChristineGreater Boston •2 reviews4.0Dined 2 days agoWe dined there on NYE. They had an available reservation earlier in the evening so we thought we would try it. Molly was our server and she was the only server that night. She was hustling. I had the shrimp Mozambique. It was good but different with potatoes and rice. We also had a lobster roll but too many claws. My husband did not love it. My daughter had the baked scallops and she liked them. Kale soup was yummy . Drinks were ok. The dinner was pricey in my opinion. The place is probably better to visit in the summer. This is being picky but I liked to have a glass of water shortyly after being seated.More infoCove Surf and TurfPrice: Moderate• Seafood• New Bedford•4.7

She filled our water glasses without being asked, a plus! We had the French onion soup, fish and chips, and baked cod with vegetables. Everything was served hot, cooked to perfection, and flavorful. We split the carrot cake for dessert, one of the best we’ve had! The restaurant was busy but we never felt rushed! The ambiance is light and airy….a relaxing atmosphere. Great staff, from servers to management! Always made to feel welcomed!More infoSail Loft - DartmouthPrice: Expensive• American• Dartmouth•4.8
