Roy Yamaguchi opens The Eating House 1849
at The Shops at Kukui'ula. Named after one of the first restaurants constructed in Hawai'i, by a Portuguese businessman named Peter Fernandez, Eating House pays homage to the popular casual eateries of the mid 19th century that incorporated a medley of flavors from the Island's growing and diverse communities.

Please call the restaurant to make reservations for parties of 5 or more. For parties of 10 or more we require credit card information to hold the reservation, and follow a 48 hour cancellation/no show policy; any cancellations withing 48 hours of your reservation date, or not showing up to a reservation will result in a charge of $20 per person.

    Our server he is awesome he has a knowledge of his food and drink really well. Good service nice people working there. This guy really know what he doing and yes he know how to sales love everything he does. Thank you for your service.

    This restaurant has the best wait staff in Kauai!! So attentive to your every need. We have loved all of the dishes we have tried. Can’t wait to go back!

    Started the evening with the best Mai Tai of our trip. Started with both potstickers and a wonderful medley of brussel sprouts and cauliflower. Both my wife and I had the butterfish which was melt in your mouth delicious. We had Roy’s signature Chardonnay as well which was the perfect complement to our meal. We ended with the best chocolate lava cake and ice cream. Full tummies and big smiles!

    Sorry, but it would be hard to call anything we got a 'value' - we split potstickers, split a burger and split the lava souffle. But, splitting made the cost for 2 certainly on the reasonable side for Hawaii dining, and I must say, all 3 items we got were outstanding. The burger came with world class fries and onion rings - both were JUST out of the grease and came piping hot. Getting the timing right to deliver hot fries and onion rings isn't easy, but it was perfect. Therefore I'm rating everything a '5' (except value).

    The service and food were wonderful! We asked if we could be seated 2 hours before our reservations and they were kind enough to do so AND gave us a terrific table!! Our waitress was outstanding. A really great evening. Thank you Eating House!

    Excellent food with very attentive staff. The Korean BBQ ribs were awesome & the butterfish delicious. Ahi tuna was one of the best we’ve had. The signature Yamaguchi Chardonnay was wonderful. Richard & the serving staff were great. Overall a perfect evening. Thank you!

    Our food and service were wonderful (as always). Unfortunately we were seated next to a party of 8 drunk and foul mouthed people who even screamed to impress their fellow drunken companions. It really ruined having a nice dinner. I can’t imagine any of the drunks driving back to their hotels, or walking!
