Not an exceptional experience. Water guys kept us hydrated which was about it. Better options for fine dining for sure.

Odd, slow service. Consider this a bar w food. Not a restaurant.

We recently visited Edgar Bar & Kitchen during a stay at The Mayflower Hotel, and our experience was a bit of a mixed bag. Upon arrival, we were seated in the rear section of the restaurant, which felt more like a cafeteria than a dining area, especially when compared to the front, which has a cozy pub-like atmosphere. Initially, we were seated at a table with noticeable spots, but the hostess quickly had a gentleman wipe it down, and he apologized. Unfortunately, before I could sit down, I spotted a used spoon at the place setting that was covered in froth from either hot chocolate or cream. At that point, we politely asked to be moved to a booth in the other section, which was quickly arranged. For brunch, we ordered buttermilk pancakes, French toast made with brioche bread topped with fresh berries, fingerling potatoes, two croissants, scrambled eggs, and chicken sausages. While the food was decent, nothing stood out as extraordinary—everything was simply average. The orange juice was particularly disappointing with a strange aftertaste, and at $5 per glass, it felt overpriced for the quality. However, the wait staff deserves a mention for their efficiency and friendliness. They were attentive throughout the meal, and their service was a bright spot in our experience. Overall, the convenience of the restaurant’s location within the hotel was a plus, but given the food quality and some initial cleanliness issues, we’re unlikely to dine there again.

Wonderful bar with great history in a Washington landmark. I highly recommend the clam chowder.

Really good NYE meal with family. Attentive service and decent menu. Great option for those staying in the Mayflower Hotel as it is located in the main lobby.

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner of Steak Frittes, which we both enjoyed immensely. We also enjoyed the ambiance and history of The Edgar ! We will most definitely return!
