   I enjoyed a beautiful evening with friends tonight. The shrimp and crab cake appetizers were amazing!! I've had the NY Strip several times here and it's always been a 10/10; however on tonight something was off with my steak. I had to ask for salt and that's a first. No worries though... I brought the other half home and cooked it more in garlic butter on top of the stove. Everything else was great. Our waitress was absolutely amazing! Of course I will be back soon!!

   I usually really like Edgar's, but today it was a bit off. We had a 12:30 reservation and ordered around 12:35 - just a sandwich and a pizza, but it took 30 minutes to get our food which was unusual since it was lunchtime and they were not crowded. Then, the pizza which was supposed to have tomatos and basil as the main topic had no basic because they were out. The pizza was crispy and delicious, but I would have probably chosen one of the other options if I had known there was no basil. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, and the food when it did arrive was good, but just not our best overall visit.

   Went to the brunch buffet. I tipped my server 20%. when I got my bank statement they adjusted their tip and added $50. I had to dispute it with my bank.

   It was a wonderful meal. Just what we needed after 3 weeks of dealing with the effects of hurricane Helene. Our server was attentive. Crab cakes and creamed spinach were delicious ( although sauce was a bit spicy for me). Edgar’s salad was excellent. My husband enjoyed the stuffed catfish and Caesar salad. We were too full for dessert.

   So variable. Food is always at least a plus. Never truly wow but also tends to be better than average. Price is about what you would expect for a more formal dining experience. This time around, service was quite lacking. Group of ten. Received a notice that bill would not be split for large groups… this is quite the demand on whomever is making the reservation. Could have easily been $100-150 per person. Birthday dinner and the server never even asked if we wanted to see dessert menus. If this place weren’t in Augusta and didn’t have access to an advantageous labor pool, they’d be out of business in a year. I want to like this place but I am disappointed as often as I am pleased.

    Our meal was absolutely delicious. We both ordered the Filet Mignon; I upgraded mine with grilled mushrooms and shrimp - medium rare - cooked to perfection. It cut like warm butter. The grilled asparagus was al dente - in my opinion, perfect. Our server was so much fun. And, she knew the best red wine to pair with our meal. Too full for dessert however the choices were very tempting. The perfect temps to be seated outside and it was the perfect girl date night with my best friend. Thankfully we had gift cards to utilize, the menu is not inexpensive. This is fine dining with large portions - it will wake-up your bank account. Worth every penny.
