   We had reservations for Valentines Day at 8 PM, it wasn’t very crowded but the table behind us had 2 kids running, pushing, fighting the entire time through the restaurant. Bad parenting was to blame here, not the restaurant. Worse part, we sat there 1.5 hours listening to it & our food never arrived. We finally decided to leave & that’s when the waiter/manager started to seem like they cared, it was too late. We left, hungry, disappointed & with a headache. At least the rooms & views are great for the rest of our stay..

   Started out the night with a VERY nice welcome. The server arrived at our table with a smile and quickly took our drink order. When she came back with our drinks, she explained some of the options on the menu. She wasn’t rushing us she just wanted us to make a great choice. Because of her explanation, my wife and I ordered something different than our original selections. The food came out hot and tasty. The server and restaurant were very busy but we never felt rushed or the time wasn’t too long in between courses. PERFECT pace. PERFECT food! PERFECT service. Did I mention everything was PERFECT?

   Even though it was early and tons of regular dining tables available AND I had a reservation I was initially seated at an uncomfortable high top in the bar area. I asked to be moved to a table and was seated. My first (?) waitress was confused about my drink request, which is served in the Great Hall. A second waitress appeared with my drink and asked for my food order. No explanation about switching waitresses. My food arrived quickly, in fact too quickly, and was extremely cold. I couldn’t figure out how it came so fast and so cold! I felt rushed and was done in 20 minutes.

   Service was fantastic as well as the food!! Trout and Chimichurri NY strip, phenomenal. Our waitress brought me a birthday treat, which made it an extra special evening.

   Our server and the hostesses were excellent, friendly and efficient. The Grove Park Inn is always a treat. However, the noise in Edison’s was ridiculous, making it very difficult to converse. It was also very cold there, in the hallways and at Elaine’s. The Lobby by the fire was the only comfortable spot we found in the Hotel. The entertainment at Elaine’s was great but I probably won’t return to Edison’s except maybe at an “off time” when few others are there. The food was good but definitely not exceptional.

   Our recent dinner at The Edison in the Grove Park Inn was a fantastic experience with a few small missteps. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with that classic charm and stunning views that make dining here special. We started with the beet salad, which was fresh, well-balanced, and a great way to kick off the meal. For entrées, we had the Bolognese and the date night special filet, both of which were absolutely delicious. The filet was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, making it the standout dish of the night. The Bolognese was rich and satisfying, exactly what you’d hope for in a comforting pasta dish. For dessert, the blueberry cheesecake was a perfect finish—smooth, creamy, and not overly sweet. However, the one disappointment of the evening was our son’s New York Strip (ordered at market price). Unfortunately, it was overcooked and didn’t match the level of quality we expected given the setting and price point. Overall, The Edison delivered a mostly outstanding meal with excellent service and ambiance. A little more attention to steak doneness would have made it a flawless experience.    About the best steak I’ve had. Steak Frites outstanding. But best was waiter Luke. Super polite, friendly, delightful personality. Asked if we were there for a particular reason. Mentioned it was my sisters birthday, and we were pleasantly surprised with a plate of chocolate cake, slice of chocolate and a caramel macaroon. Just splendid.
