Emmer & Rye is a restaurant designed around the farmer’s haul, featuring a menu that changes daily with a focus on seasonal and local cuisine. Heirloom grains are milled fresh for house made pastas, breads, and desserts, whole animal butchery is done on site, and an extensive in house fermentation program captures flavors at their peak and preserves them for the off season.

The creativity of the menu was delightful and the attentiveness of the service was outstanding. Highlights were the Johnny Cakes and the Cacio de Pepe. And of course, the sourdough service. The tilefish was beautifully prepared. An enjoyable experience.

Overhyped. Just okay. All the small plates tasted the same.

Food was fantastic and loved the space. Didn’t have the best service experience based on the level of the food. One dish we ordered never arrived but got charged for. It was easily corrected but a bit of a bummer.

We're new to Austin and had heard a lot about this restaurant but it was disappointing. Good: A good vibe: warm and inviting. We were offered a complimentary taste of sparkling wine to celebrate our anniversary - a nice touch. We were able to taste one or two white wines to see if we liked them before ordering. Appetizer arrived quickly, Bad: Made to wait 10 minutes while they found a (prebooked) table. Service was somewhat abrupt and clumsy. Food was okay but to rave about flavor-wise. Very noisy and we had to constantly lean in and speak loudly to hear each other.

Don’t normally post reviews, but our dinner last night was outstanding. We sat at the kitchen counter, and got to see a team that were respectful of each other, and worked together to handle our night, as well as all their other guests in a coordinated way that made it look effortless. Everyone’s attention to detail was impressive. We appreciated the dialogue during our meal with Chef Robbie. Watching him cook was fantastic. Mr. “Z” , the restaurant groups manager was so personable and Trey our waiter was knowledgeable and great. We were celebrating our 41st anniversary, and everyone made our first visit a special night. We will absolutely be back and recommend to anyone. Thanks
