The owners of Étoile Cuisine et Bar, Chef Philippe Verpiand and Monica Bui, have created an inviting, warm European environment where both traditional and seasonal French food are front and center. "We want to dispel the notion that French food is heavy and pretentious," says the team, recently transplanted to Houston from San Diego, where they owned the famed Cavaillon Restaurant. Everything about Étoile Cuisine et Bar, from the inviting outside facade to the intriguing interior design to the high quality service, is meant to convey a feeling of truly being in France.     Love the restaurants’ consistency - the Sole Meunière ALWAYS tastes delicious and Mushroom Ravioli and AMAZING sauce is always spot on! I tell a lot of people it’s the hidden jewel of Uptown Park.

    Most of the food of our party was very good, but the boeuf tartar was impossible to eat. There was so much vinegar that my stomach started to burn after the third bite. Then, the sole almandine was swimming in butter and stole any flavor the dish might have had. End result: a very expensive indigestion!
