Evangeline is the casual bistro for which Napa Valley has been waiting: a destination with garden patio dining and world-class food, drink, and service.

Classic bistro items such as raw oysters, croque madame, smoked salmon, and steak frites--each of them in the most flavorful form you've ever seen or tasted. Daily specials like shrimp etouffee, gumbo ya-ya, and fried chicken offer glimpses into the Chef's French and Creole repertoire.

An extensive array of wines by the glass is anchored by our draft wine system, which serves perfect pours on exclusive wines seldom offered except by the bottle. Our local beers and liquors will get your toe tapping at the comfortable, chic bar.

We visited Evangeline for brunch on a Sunday morning. The croque madame was delicious, the bread pudding was moist and without raisins, the coffee was hot and fresh and the fritto misto was tender, crispy and yummy. I was really surprised that we were the only ones there as I thought it was fabulous.

The food we ordered was good- filet mignon very tender, halibut was moist and gumbo quite tasty and spicy. Service was slow. It didn’t seem like there were enough wait staff for the number of guests and it was not a super busy Sunday evening.

We enjoyed the Gumbo Ya-Ya, the beet salad, the scallops and lemon tart . The gumbo was spiced authentically: not too hot but not bland. The scallops were perfectly seared and the homemade squid-ink pasta was the best I’ve had. The beet salad had a tasty balance between the sweet beets and the vinaigrette. It was beautifully played and almost too pretty to eat. The meringue on the lemon tart was a little over- torched and the crust wasn’t very flaky but the flavor was fine. It was a delicious meal.

The food was fantastic, fresh and creative. Service from Carmen was wonderful, she was professional and light offering a touch of humor. Our table sat and enjoyed our meal and shared stories and lots of laughter, with such an inviting setting. It was as if we were sitting in a cafe in Europe somewhere. I can't wait to go back!

The was our first time at Evangeline’s, first of many I hope! They were very gracious, as we were about 20 min late. We were seated in their beautiful patio, it was a beautifully warm day, and their music was perfect - reminiscent of New Orleans. We all had a round of drinks, or two….. I had delicious chicken and waffles- the chicken was moist and well spiced. He had the omelet, it was giant and evidently yummy because he ate all of it!! I would definitely recommend this place for brunch!

We were told there's a new chef at the restaurant. It seems they haven't figured out the menu's identity since it is all over the place: some italian, some cajun, some californian? The food we ordered was not great, including a salad that was over-dressed with the most acidic dressing, and a barely edible charcuterie board since everything tasted just a bit off (including apple slices that tasted like onions). Unfortunately this meal was very disappointing. The one upside was the ambiance on the patio was great.
