    Our woman server was so amazing and kind, I am so sorry that I don’t remember her name. The food was delish and we enjoyed our dinner. The meatballs and side of carrots were especially yummy as was everything else. She also gave us complimentary glasses of champagne and dessert as it was our 41st Anniversary. Many thanks to her, we had a lovely evening!

    Party of 4, Saturday evening meal. Ordered charred Octopus and Mussels & clams to start w/ side of bread, duck confit gnocchi, ratatouille risotto & pappardelle pasta. We all loved our meal, the food was delicious, the service was wonderful and the atmosphere was lively - just what we were looking for on a Saturday night. The one item that rubbed us the wrong way, and why we didn’t give 5 stars - they charged us 4% for using a credit card! There was no mentioning it before or after the meal. That seems strange at best and a bit of a mood killer at the end of a good meal. Anyway, hope they reconsider this practice in the future or at least make it known to patrons before the credit card was used.

    Had a wonderful meal at Farmers Bottega last night. The service was great and the food was comforting, beautiful and really delicious! We had the calamari to start and it was good. Then the kale salad was delicious and then we shared the Paccheri which was the winner! Love the cozy elegant vibe, can’t wait to go back!

    Been going there for years now and as of lately it seems that the food quality has gone down while prices keep going up. It’s not a bad place but no longer my first choice for Italian food.

    I was looking to try a new restaurant for Mother’s Day. This place had many 5 star reviews, so I booked it. Ambiance - Cool looking place. Exposed brick walls, nice decorations. Service - Very good service. Server was attentive and patient. (House Made) Sangria - Light on alcohol. Tasted like fruit juice. Definitely did not taste fresh or homemade. Grandmas Meatballs - Nice name. They were clearly pre-processed and/or previously frozen. Big disappointment. Pork Ossobucco w/Risotto - The pork was a bit chewy and the risotto was lukewarm. Tiramisu - As part of the Mother’s Day special ($66/pp) - not much of a discount, they included dessert. They gave me a piece of Tiramisu which was 1/3 the normal size (I knew because the 2 orders for the kids were 3x the size). It was also half frozen. Hoped they saved an extra dollar by skimping on my “less than stellar piece.” As disappointed as I was with the meal, then I see a 3% surcharge when using a credit card. SERIOUSLY!?!? 90%+ of all restaurant receipts are credit cards. Build it into the cost! Soooo cheesy! That was the cherry on top that made me decide never to return. So many better places in San Diego. I felt like this place was a complete money grab.

    We were looking to change up our dining routine a bit, and thought let's try something in the Hillcrest area. Came across The Farmer's Bottega and decided to give it a try. Very friendly and attentive staff. The salads? excellent. The wine? a great pour! The flatbread? also excellent! While my wife and I were sitting there, we were talking about how familiar the restaurant seemed, a lot like The Farmer's Table in La Mesa. A quick Google search to realize both are run by the same owner(s). While both restaurants have great food and are of very similar quality, the wait staff here seem MUCH more friendly than the La Mesa location. We will definitely return!
