Nino's has attracted devoted locals who return time and again, along with a long list of who had heard of Nino's reputation and stopped in to sample the fare. Many of the dishes on Nino's menu are original recipes brought from Italy by Antonio and his brother Giuseppe. Antonio's favorite dishes are those named after his daughters, Gabriella, Alessandra, and Michela; his wife Elena (Helen); his brother Giuseppe; his brother-in-law Paola, and himself and the grandchildren. The pasta dish which bears the name of Nino's is a recipe from Mama Noviello. This special long-standing neighborhood trattoria is such a wonderful friendly positive experience—especially on the dismal rainy night I are there this Monday evening. I was alone, but the caring service and happy atmosphere of neighborhood patrons made me feel so welcome and part of the dining experience. Atlanta is a town of many fine start-up restaurants—but sadly a lot are gone within a year or more. Tavola has offered a VERY fine dining experience for years now—and a true welcome to the diner who cares about great Italian food—for Atlanta’s intown inhabitants (and not a few from outside the locale who remember what special place it is). And don’t think just because they’ve been around for many years they don’t still offer new exciting Italian dishes regularly. I had a Malfadine Al Nero dish that was superb! We are so fortunate to have this restaurant in Virginia Highlands!! (And I’m going back next Monday to try another dish!)
