Best Authentic Restaurants in Phoenix

The FOOD was nothing but I amazing. I made 3pm reservation and was running late. I asked for 5 extra minutes and given without any hesitation. Seated immediately and greeted by our waitress Breyshia. She was very nice. App,Entree and drinks were top notch. I will be returning. I didnt have room for dessert. Nice size portion and my bill wasn't that bad.

A friend and I had lunch at Sammy's on 3/11/25. Paul, the server, was absolutely wonderful. He was friendly, engaging, courteous and attentive. Paul has been our server on previous visits and he consistently does an excellent job. My friend and I both ordered the Julia Salad with grilled chicken. It's our absolute favorite and it never disappoints in terms of portion size and flavor. The dressing is excellent. Sammy's bread is also a standout. We had one concern that affected the "value" and "overall" ratings for our experience. On our last visit just a few weeks ago, the price of the Julia Salad with chicken was $16. Sammy's has now increased the price of the Julia Salad with grilled chicken from $16 to $22. The cost of the base salad with no protein is $9 which means customers are paying an additional $13 ($9 for the base salad plus $13 for the chicken = new price of $22) for the handful of strips of grilled chicken added to the base salad. This latest price increase is in addition to at least one prior increase for this salad. That price increase really gives us pause as to whether we will be able to return again. It's way too much. The dining room is lovely and the outdoor dining option is wonderful for enjoying good weather. The bar area is also a terrific option for those who prefer the bar. We noticed some other menu items had significant price increases. Significant price increases present a huge risk for driving loyal customers like us away even though this is a wonderful restaurant.

Front of the House - One person. Attentive; engaging; and started a conversation. Discussed lunch options and his favorite item. Recalled my face and where he had previously provided seating. Polite and helpful. Very positive change. Wait Staff - Monica - attentive; helpful; and professional. Meal - Stayed within the Wheel House - Maryland Crab Soup - bowl. Seasoned; tasty; and worth having on a daily basis. Followed up with mini crab cakes. Seasoned; tasty; and filling. The crab based meals are reliable and consistent - you cannot go wrong with these menu items. Worth the visit. Solid location for business meals - nice tables and open space - business conversation friendly. Also wonderful for corporate lunch day - parties 5 to 12 appear to fit well and the guests appear to enjoy themselves.
