Best Authentic Restaurants in Union City

A total gem by the water in San Leandro - a delightful restaurant

We decided to dine here for the first time based on positive reviews. The location and restaurant itself is in a small strip mall. We were warmly greeted and seated promptly. We enjoyed seeing the great Italian-themed pictures and art on the walls and accompanying low-volume music playing to give us a touch of Italy. The Petrale Sole (Special of the Day) was superb, perfectly cooked, and the accompanying sauce and vegetables very pleasing to the palate. The Risotto with scallops, sun-dried tomatoes and artichokes (another Special of the Day) was excellent. The service was top notch and most appreciated was the attention to our stated food allergies. We were too full to experience their dessert, so we have to go back another time soon.

We love this restaurant. Typically I like to sit in the raised alcove with Italian painted scenes on the wall. However with my husband’s hearing deficit, there is a lot of noise…so we sit in the other areas. The food is great. I consistently choose the calamari piccata, love the capers! We had appetizers of beef carpaccio and fried calamari, along with a lovely wedge salad. Excellent food, great service at reasonable price! The only reason I gave it 4 stars on the food was my husband ordered the beef special, which the waiter said “thin strips of beef wrapped with prosciutto and mushrooms, instead it was ground beef, and more like a meatloaf..disappointing to my husband…

Met friends for a casual late lunch on a Saturday. It was not crowded, so noise level was good to chat and socialize. Great ambiance and friendly service, food and drinks were good. Prices were on the higher end but all tasted good and was well presented. it looks like they have a good happy hour to try out. My only disappointment was that the photo of chicken tortilla soup was filled with avocado , but my bowl had none ☹️ though the soup was very good.

I love the ambience of this place. The food is very nice. Value for money. Service is awesome.
