Koshō Restaurant at The Barlow is a modern Japanese and sushi restaurant in Sebastopol with a progressive focus on food, local ingredients, and sustainability. We utilize local purveyors for fresh produce and meats as well as national and international providers for fresh seafood and sushi grade fish. Koshō derives its moniker from the condiment of the same name, Yuzu Koshō. Known for its spicy, acidic and balanced nature, it appears throughout the menu in various forms; including Meyer lemon, grapefruit, and satsuma orange koshō.     Hamchi crudo appetizer was so fresh and flavors melded together well. Black cod had a seared crust and perfectly cooked along with crème fraiche and beet mashed potatoes The pork chop was about 2” thick with mushroom bread pudding. All beautifully prepared and presented.

    We went with friends for a special occasion and had a wonderful experience. First time at Bay View restaurant. Our dinners were outstanding!!! I had the coq au vin, one person ordered the cedar planked salmon and two ordered the braised short ribs. The portions are generous and the presentation is really beautiful. The oysters appetizer plate was presented beautifully too. The service was wonderful- very pleasant, attentive but not hovering. The space is lovely- fireplace, white linen cloths, a rose on each table, nice lighting. And a full bar. We were really glad we’d decided to go here for this special holiday get-together and will definitely be back. This gem needs to be supported!!! Don’t miss the gingerbread Bodega display created by the very talented chef.
