A typical food love story. A boy meets a girl while eating pizza. He attends culinary school and open’s a pizza restaurant named after the girl. Thus bringing us to Emily! The Manhattan iteration of the Brooklyn based pizzeria centered around a historic brick oven and comforting food. Emily has earned a following for its signature Detroit-style pies and award winning burger. The pizza here is rectangular (not round) and utilizes the "frico" technique, in which cheese is drizzled on the edges of the pie to create a crispy brown exterior. Beyond the main event, the menu extends to include salads and sandwiches, which shouldn't be ignored (think an attention-grabbing burger and a top-notch spicy fried chicken sandwich). Great atmosphere, service, and of course, food! We had the Tom Yum seafood hotpot and the Karee Pu Noodles (curry crab noodles) and both were delicious. Can be hard getting a reservation (though luckily a 12:30 PM one opened up for us) so definitely reserve a spot in advance!

Had a special meaning to me because in 1980 fresh out of college our corp. offices were on the 97th of the World Trade Center I was in town for meetings and that was the first and last time I ate at the Windows on the World restaurant. To walk around up there today and view the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island where my grandparents first arrived in our country was just breathtaking. The food was perfect and the server was very pleasant. Well worth the visit.
