Best Casual Restaurants in Penn Quarter

Amazing. Really unique twists in familiar ingredients. Our favorites we the squash, hand-rolled noodles, crab Rangoon and the wagyu beef rolls. Amazing. We were too full for dessert after sharing 6 dishes. The service is impeccable. Everyone was very knowledgeable. Water glass constantly filled. The decor is beautiful. Each chef has a shelf to display their favorite things. And every employee is listed on the back of the menu which shows how much care goes into the staffing.

We got the Jaleo experience tasting menu. It was excellent, and more food than we were expecting. Definitely worth the price! It was somewhat loud and we had trouble hearing the wait staff at times, but otherwise we would definitely do this again!

Located close to Ford's Theater. Had tickets for Christmas Carol that night which is within walking distance from The Smith. Also, the Management accommodated a last minute change in the numbers of our party and made sure we made it to the show on time.

One Michelin Star (and all that implies) with two prix fixe selections and alacarte menu. (1) Self select 4 items from 4 groups, $90) or (most) Chefs Selection 7 items plus desert ($150). We did Chefs Selection, excellent flavors and great value. The last dish was an aged duck breast dish with all typical Indian sides (Naan, rice, curry dipping sauces). Wonderful service and food. Really love the ambiance and the quality. Only down side was the 5% charge added to the bill, notated as NOT a tip but a service charge due to increasing cost to run the business. As a business owner myself I would not charge a fee rather if you need more money just charge more for your items. We tip 20% minimum everywhere we go but to be charged an extra 5% on top of the bill seems strange. Some people will just leave when they see that. I guess I appreciate the honesty however considering the menus are printed daily at this restaurant they could just raise the prices and then no one would be aware or need to know about the extra "we're hurting and business is tough" charge. Again - I own businesses. I understand. It's been rough the past two years.
