- KKristieLos Angeles •5 reviews5.0Dined 2 days agoAfter exploring various options, I ultimately chose to take my best friend to celebrate his birthday in a delightful and unexpected spot. I had never even heard of downtown El Segundo, having spent my entire life in Los Angeles, but what a hidden gem it turned out to be! Upon arriving at Porterhouse Bourbon and Bones right on time for our reservation, we were promptly seated. The restaurant was relatively empty at that moment, but it soon filled up, creating a lively atmosphere. We instantly fell in love with the restaurant's aesthetic, which combined rustic charm with a modern twist, enveloping us in a warm ambiance that set the perfect tone for our celebration. Our server, Alonzo, was a standout; he was not only attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, keen on offering insightful recommendations that heightened our dining experience. To start, we chose a mouthwatering array of dishes: a 16 oz ribeye steak, succulent braised oxtails, Caesar’d Brussels sprouts, and crispy fried fingerling potatoes adorned with candied bacon lardons. The ribeye was a feast for the senses—perfectly juicy and bursting with flavor. The braised oxtails were an absolute highlight, tender to the point where my fork effortlessly cut through them; every bite was rich and satisfying. The Brussels sprouts, prepared in a unique way, were a delightful surprise. Instead of the traditional preparation, they were elegantly shaved, tossed in a velvety Caesar dressing, and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese, then topped off with crunchy herbed croutons that added a lovely texture. The fried fingerling potatoes, however, were a bit of a letdown for me; they were just a touch too crunchy for my personal taste. I think I’ll opt for the herbed roasted garlic-infused buttery mashed potatoes next time, which sound much more to my liking. To conclude our marvelous meal, we indulged in a shared dessert: marbled brioche bread pudding. We had a lovely evening and plan to return.More infoPorterhouse Bourbon & BonesPrice: Very Expensive• Steakhouse• El Segundo•4.8

There are many great options on the menu— with plenty of substitutions and add ons. I appreciate how their staff are able to help you find and perfect your meal because they have a keen regard for allergies, dietary restrictions, and ingredient knowledge. I always enjoy myself at Joey Manhattan Beach. They are attentive, bubbly, and a good time!More infoJOEY Manhattan BeachPrice: Expensive• American• Manhattan Beach•4.6

- JJabareeLos Angeles •9 reviews5.0Dined on 8 Jan 2025I'm giving this restaurant a 5 start review because of the overall experience. I took my wife there for her birthday recently. I used open table to make the reservation and added in the note it was my wife's birthday. When we arrived, the hostess was very pleasant and seated us. Our server, Artemio, came out and greeted up with some complimentary champagne in celebration of my wife. We ordered our appetizers, meatballs(Grade: B), and chips and dip(Grade: B). He recommended a wonderful drink for my wife, the Genet Agonafer(Grade: A). He best recommendation was for the pasta! I love beef cheeks, but my wife had never eaten it. He recommended the Scarpinocc(Grade: A), which was excellent! For dessert, he recommended their bread pudding or the Nutella Cake. My wife wanted the Nutella Cake. It was so good( Grade: A), and he comped it for my wife's birthday! He later came with a birthday card signed by the entire staff! They made my wife cry. She felt so special, and Artemio was incredible! We will be back, no doubt! This restaurant went above and beyond to make me and my wife's experience incredible. Artemio is a fantastic waiter!More infoJamePrice: Moderate• Italian• El Segundo•4.8
