We invite you to Dr. Funk where you, too, can escape.Dr. Funk's offers a relaxed vibe that transports you into a 19th Samoa tiki venue with signature cocktails that include our Mai Tai and the Dr. Funk. Our Signature dishes include our Dr. Funk Burger and Hawaiian Ribs.We are located near O'Flaherty's Irish Pub and the Old Spaghetti Factory in the heart of downtown San Jose.Trader Vic and Donn Beach invented the tiki motif at their California restaurants of the 1930s that would entice generations for nearly a century. Our eclectic décor, too, draws influence from both Trader Vic and Donn Beach. Both Trader Vic and Donn Beach sought not to create a fantasy world that was hinged on any single location; but rather one that encompassed the concept of escapism by incorporating and embracing elements from the Caribbean, to the South Pacific, China, Singapore and beyond! In doing so, they created a backdrop that was thrilling, fascinating and alluring—one we wish to pay homage to.

Great place to eat. Good food. Not an extensive wine list but it was ok. We ordered the halibut special, pork chop and salmon. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Loved our server Sri! Thanks for making dinner enjoyable.

Ran out of Brussel sprouts but it allowed us to try the Special Pizza and the Cucumbers....and our usual Guacamole!! (Love it but liked the old crackers that use to come with it). MOST OF ALL.....LOVE the service we get. ROBERT is a WONDERFUL Waiter. Thank you so much for having him......he is so attentive and knowledgeable.

The restaurant wasn't very crowded for our early dinner on New Year's Day. The waitstaff were all very nice and helpful. I had the salmon burger, which featured a nice whole piece of grilled salmon fillet, cooked properly. The sweet potato fries I added to it should have been much crisper. I didn't like having a ton of cilantro in the sesame slaw, so couldn't eat it, since cilantro tastes like soap to me. There was nothing on the menu about the slaw being full of cilantro or I would have asked for a substitute. My friends enjoyed the small West Coast salmon bowl (which I'd recommended, based on having had it at a different Pacific Catch) that one had and the regular size Teriyaki bowl, which my other friend asked to have with tofu. He said the tofu was really delicious. So the food was very good, with the exception of the soggy fries and over-cilantroed slaw. I would imagine that when the restaurant is very crowded, it would get noisy, but since it was less than half full yesterday, it wasn't noisy. The booths are comfortable. It's good that the restaurant has several less expensive options (like the bowls and salmon burger) and also alternatives to sushi and sashimi, for those of us who don't like to eat raw fish. All in all, a pleasant and generally delicious dinner for the three of us.

Abby was great! She took care of our large party and multiple transactions great! The food was good and the drinks were fine. I am more of a tequila drinker and there weren’t many options but everyone else enjoyed the rum drinks.
