Sullivan’s Quay (pronounced, “Key”) or “Sullie’s Quay,” as it is known locally, is one of the oldest settled parts of my home, County Cork. The word Quay is actually defined: A wharf formed towards the sea or at the side of a harbour for convenience of loading or unloading goods.You will notice our dining room walls adorned with Murals of Architecture from the area of Sullivan’s Quay around the 19th century, when Jack Sullivan, whom the area is named after, patrolled the streets selling beer and wine to the local saloonkeepers. Their house salad is always excellent and delicious. My main course was one of the specials, grilled ribeye steak. It was perfectly cooked, charred on the outside with crispy fat and red inside. I've had this here before and it was so good that I was delighted to see it on the nightly specials menu. Served with potatoes and string beans, it was outstanding. They consistently do an excellent job with steak here. Service was also great. They have a good selection of beers and wines. I had a glass of Cabernet with the steak and a pint of Guinness for dessert.
