Mia Francesca features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. It was one of the first restaurants in Chicago to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, simple, rustic cooking, friendly service, and fair prices.Waiting for a table at the beautiful antique bar is part of the charm of Mia Francesca. The plush upstairs dining room and lounge can be reserved for private events, as can the more intimate coach house tucked away behind the restaurant. Supremely Asian American. Eastern cooking technique. Taking inspiration from the night markets of Asia and his Korean-American childhood, Chef Edward Kim pairs eastern cooking techniques with Chicago ingredients to create umami-laden flavors, juxtaposing tastes and textures for a wildly exciting menu. A festive and lively dining scene is anchored by a well-lauded bar program and an open pantry, inviting our guests further into the kitchen experience. Like a nightly Asian Thanksgiving, expect Feast-Style dining, rolling up your sleeves, passing plates with your neighbors, getting sauce on your face - if you’re having a good time you’re doing it right.

Our waiter James B. was wonderful helpful, patient and fast. The entree’, ravioli, while delicious was not as hot as it should have been and the charge was removed. The guacamole was tops, the soups were delicious and both were enjoyable. The booth was perfect for us and noise level was conversational friendly.

We’ve been hesitant to visit the Walnut Room due to food allergies but decided to give it a try. From the moment we sat down, Jesus, our waiter, was so attentive. He noticed our allergen card in the table and immediately addressed it, letting us know he find out anything we needed to know and would talk to the chef personally to see what our son could eat. We’ve always wanted to visit this beautiful restaurant but never did out of fear of allergies. But Jesus helped to make this experience amazing for our whole family. Thank you for taking the time to understand our allergies and walk us through the menu. It was a great start to the holiday season. We will be back again!

The service started out strong, then petered out. Our meal, however, was quite good, and we would most likely return.
