The Fishes is a hidden gem. Quite a big gem, too. An imposing Victorian building set in acres of wooded grounds leading down to the banks of Seacourt Stream. The deck that wraps around the conservatory offers a rare opportunity in land-locked Oxford to dine outside with an idyllic view. We visit Quod regularly and after today's meal I question why we hadn't been for a while. First course good although needed to borrow someone else's teeth to crack the croutons. Calves liver superb, could have been a little more pink but so difficult to do in a large restaurant with thin slices, mash, kale and bacon and tasty sauce set the whole meal off. Our waitress who we now know well was as good as ever and at £34.60 a head great value. See you again soon!

For a convivial, conversational evening with colleagues or friends, the Old Parsonage is simply the best venue in Oxford - elegant, cozy surroundings, blissfully music-free and typically a quiet and civilized clientele. They will make every effort to accommodate diner's requirements for seating and other needs. On this occasion, my guest was delayed well past our booking time; despite the restaurant being fully booked, the OP graciously accommodated us.

The ambience here is heavenly. I adore the summer house! The staff were all kind, helpful, and considerate. They let us stay for about an hour chatting after we finished eating! The food was not as good as I'd hoped, though. I guess that's literally a matter of taste, so try it and see if you love it. The Pedro Ximénez sherry was *perfection*.
