The New Yorker opened in 1930 at the height of the Great Depression as the then largest hotel in the city. It has attracted a who’s who of entertainers and dignitaries from around the world, including Muhammad Ali, JFK, Joan Crawford and Nikola Tesla. Beneath the hotel, a bank vault and offices were occupied by the Manufacturers Trust Company until 1980.     I was pleasantly surprised by Carmine’s given its location in a tourist area. The pasta was cooked al dente and chicken parm still had its crisp from the fryer and just enough sauce. Portions are for 2-4 ppl. Service was very attentive. Highly recommend for a family or group meal.

    Everything we ordered was very flavorful. The shawarma hummus was amazing. The chicken was extremely moist. Portion sizes were very generous, so share an entree or be prepared to have extra to take home.

    I’ve been in the city a bunch of times and passed this restaurant many times without trying - had a family day in the city and kids love burgers and shakes - so thought i would give it a try and happy that I did. The burgers were really good, the shakes really good. The service was great - thank you Stefanie. My only suggestions is that you show go in very hungry and not over order as everything comes out oversized . The pretzel barely fits on the table (just kidding) but it’s huge . Lots of food and wish I didn’t eat breakfast or lunch . Next time (and there will be one) I know.

    Has the greatest HAPPY HOUR - loved the mussels - good sliders - $10 wine and on Mondays it’s all evening. Restaurant itself is attractive - good service - great staff - what’s not to like
