Best Lunch Restaurants in Wheathampstead

There is a lovely cosy atmosphere in this quaint historic place. Staff are very welcoming and accomodating - we had our two young daughters with us. The food was excellent -great quality, taste and portion size. I had kipper croquettes and the chalk stream trout, both delicious. Deserts are always great, plum crumble and Bramley apple cheesecake are highly recommended.

Thoroughly enjoyable! We had the two course set menu for about £20. Plenty of choice. I had the Spiced Lamb Flatbread which was delicious followed by the Plum Crumble with Ice Cream. The hazelnuts in the crumble mix were lovely!

Always good, always good value. The only problem is trying to understand the complexities of the lunchtime menus and the various pricing options.

We arrived on Sunday around 5.30pm to a bustling restaurant. The atmosphere was great - busy but not too loud, happy staff keen to make our visit good and importantly, delicious food. We’re booking for next week!
