Best Lunch Restaurants in Norfolk

Our server, Jeanette, greated us warmly and was very helpful., adding to our experience. All the food was well prepared and presented. I had the salmon and my husband had swordfish; both delicious. We had apple crisp for dessert, and were delighted to find it was made with green apples—so good! One thing that particularly impressed me was the balance of protein, vegetables and carbs in the serving. Often restaurants serve an overwhelming amount of carbohydrates, which are left on the plate, but Union Straw is mindful, and serves perfect portions. We did have a bit of difficulty finding the entrance, which is not on Mechanic St., but the next street over, but having found it, it will become a favorite place.

It was a fun night for our group. Being a Tuesday it was not too noisy in the dining area but the atmosphere of the room led to a festive night

The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. We were there at lunch starting at around 1:30pm so it was busy but not too noisy. The food came out in a timely manner, was hot, but not too hot to eat, and was extremely tasty. Our server, Tara, was great on every level and she tagged teamed with another server whose name I don’t remember but who has an awesome mustache who was off the charts too. Overall a fantastic experience.
