The rustic decor and friendly chatter create the perfect setting “The staff were attentive and approachable, ensuring we felt welcome from the moment we walked in. Our server, was knowledgeable and quick to make recommendations “The star of our meal was the classic Royal Burger. It's a hearty burger, packed with flavour. “we had no room for dessert"! “The pub boasts an impressive array of craft beers and ales. Also speciality coffee's. We had a 'Baileys Latte'. Would definatley. Recommend this “For the quality and portions, the prices were reasonable. It’s a great spot for a meal that doesn’t break the bank.” To Sum it up “Whether you’re after a hearty meal or a casual drink with friends, The Royal delivers on all fronts. It’s a gem worth revisiting.”More infoThe RoyalPrice: Moderate• Pub• Bolton-le-Sands•4.6

- RRachelCumbria •1 review5.0Dined 5 days agoFirst visit for many years. Welcoming staff!, lovely decor. I should have checked beforehand that the Christmas menu was available, completely my own fault! However having said this, the food that we ordered was excellent!! The ambiance could have been better, however that was only because they were not many other diners. We will definitely be back to try out other dishes!!More infoThe Highland Drove InnPrice: Moderate• British• Penrith•4.7
- PPatriciaCumbria •1 review5.0Dined on 15 Dec 2024Festive roast beef for two was excellent. Christmas pudding with sauce was very good. The trifle would have been better avoided. The topping was cream with pink sprinkles better suited to a children’s menu. The cream had a synthetic taste. The next layer was a rubbery red jelly. The base was a large amount of very dry sponge cake. I suspect it hadn’t seen a teaspoonful of sherry let alone the large quantity the menu suggested it would have. I declined to pay for this dessert. We would however return to the Cross Keys for another main course.More infoThe Cross Keys InnPrice: Moderate• British• Penrith•4.4
