Situated in the historic village of Aylesford, The Hengist is a modern restaurant and bar, a short walk from the river's edge.The 16th Century building stands with original features, offering a perfect balance of elegance, heritage and modernity all surrounded by manicured gardens. The Hengist offers a range of dining options including a casual dining option on the ground floor and two more formal dining rooms upstairs along with outside terrace dining in our gardens. We offer seasonal 'a la carte and 'set' menus along with a 'Sunday lunch' menu. All of our dishes are freshly made to order with locally sourced ingredients.

Open Tuesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves.The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do. We booked for Christmas Day slightly apprehensive as to how the atmosphere would be as we wasn’t sure how many people would book for a alternative lunch. We had the best time here. It was busy but service spot on as always. Nice Christmas music playing. Food was amazing as always and we wasn’t ripped off with inflated prices. We would definitely do this again! Thank you Turkuaz for making our Christmas one to remember
