We invite you to Dr. Funk where you, too, can escape.Dr. Funk's offers a relaxed vibe that transports you into a 19th Samoa tiki venue with signature cocktails that include our Mai Tai and the Dr. Funk. Our Signature dishes include our Dr. Funk Burger and Hawaiian Ribs.We are located near O'Flaherty's Irish Pub and the Old Spaghetti Factory in the heart of downtown San Jose.Trader Vic and Donn Beach invented the tiki motif at their California restaurants of the 1930s that would entice generations for nearly a century. Our eclectic décor, too, draws influence from both Trader Vic and Donn Beach. Both Trader Vic and Donn Beach sought not to create a fantasy world that was hinged on any single location; but rather one that encompassed the concept of escapism by incorporating and embracing elements from the Caribbean, to the South Pacific, China, Singapore and beyond! In doing so, they created a backdrop that was thrilling, fascinating and alluring—one we wish to pay homage to.

What an amazing dining experience! The restaurant is literally a beacon in downtown San Jose. The sign is bright and hard to miss. The moment we stepped inside we were greeted by the friendly host staff. The main dining room is beautiful and lively as well as a lovely bar. We took a peek upstairs where there a handful of dining tables, another bar and a great open window length counter where you can dine. Our service was friendly, professional and very prompt; our water never went empty. All the cocktails ordered were great. All of the food we ordered was delicious!! We loved and appreciated the complimentary appetizer and decadent chocolate at the end; wonderful touches. I’m so excited downtown finally has an excellent dining spot. We look forward to returning again! Well done Eos & Nix!

This was the one and time the kitchen was super slow in getting one out of four meals to our table… such a surprise to me as the service is normally spot on here. However, our waitress, Liz, handled the problem well and with a lot of patience with our obvious irritation! She gets a gold star for sure!

It's a great location with a pretty limited menu. The food was fine and the cocktails were good. I personally didn't like the timing of the meal service. We did not tell them that we were in a hurry, but the service of the food felt rushed, with the cocktails lagging behind. Our salads came out before we got our cocktails. Our entrees were served before I finished my salad, and the cocktails arrived with the entrees. We did not have dessert.

We enjoyed a pre-opera dinner on Friday night. It was very quiet which allowed for pleasant conversation. The assortment of bar bites and appetizers was extensive and satisfying. We selected the sliders, potstickers and calamari. They were ample enough to satisfy three diners. We also ordered the rice dish with Chinese sausage which was very tasty. The waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive. We were very pleased and will return.
