A legendary hangout in North Beach since it opened in 1919, and even more so from the 1980's onward when Jeanette Etheredge took over Tosca. Locals including Willie Brown, Lars Ulrich and Francis Ford Coppola were regular fixtures, Hunter S Thompson wrote his column for the SF Examiner in the corner booth, Bono, Lauren Hutton, and Mikhail Baryshnikov played pool in the back room, singing Opera and drinking Tosca House Cappuccinos. When Restaurateur Anna Weinberg and Interior Designer Ken Fulk heard Tosca Cafe was closing they joined forces to save it. As the new owners and passionate fans of the original establishment their goal was to return Tosca to its rightful place as a San Francisco institution.     It was an outstanding experience at Gary Danko for our dinner! The staff was welcoming, professional, and helpful. The food was amazing: the chefs reached the perfect bliss point of all the flavor combinations and textures. It was a real pleasure! Special thanks to the bartender who did an amazing job crafting our cocktails. Another special thanks to Aaron who made a special trip to my house to deliver the bag with the desserts that we left at the bar rushing to get our Lyft. It was an amazing evening and we highly recommend Gary Danko. Thank you!

    Skates on the Bay in Berkeley provided a delightful lunch experience today as I caught up with a dear friend. We started with the artichoke and crab dip, which was rich and creamy, featuring generous chunks of fresh crab. It was served warm with toasted baguette slices, making it perfect for sharing while we chatted. For my main course, I enjoyed the salmon sandwich, which was a true highlight. The salmon was flaky and moist, topped with creamy avocado and served on a toasted brioche bun. The presentation was impeccable, making it almost too pretty to eat! The service was attentive yet unobtrusive, with our server offering excellent recommendations. The restaurant's waterfront location provided stunning views of the San Francisco Bay, creating an inviting atmosphere for our leisurely lunch. Overall, my experience at Skates on the Bay was exceptional, combining fresh seafood, beautiful presentation, and attentive service—an ideal spot for enjoying great food with friends!

    We ate at Akemi two nights in a row. That says it all. Counter seating was tons of fun. Watching the masters at work was best theater in Berkeley. Food was simply delicious. And, we will return!
