She had a flair for cooking, hospitality, and deep faith.She was known to make bread from scratch every Saturday for her legendary three-hour Sicilian Sunday lunches; and, her newly established family roots in Louisiana added interesting flavors to her home cooked meals. The entire Mandola family, including her five children and fourteen grandchildren, was regularly greeted in her home with smells of warm bread, well brewed sauces and homemade soups. This is one of Houston’s best restaurants. Very good steak and arguably even better pastas. The Rigatoni in Vodka sauce is better than Carbone’s and their Lobster fra diavolo is stunningly good. Their Italian favorites like Veal Parm and Veal Milanese are also remarkable. The atmosphere and live piano music is the frosting on the cake. It’s a updated version Gene and Georgetti (Chicago).

Our dinner at Drake’s was just what we needed for a date night and a special time together for my boyfriends birthday. I appreciate the grace as we were running late and the team was accommodating and kind, even though we were behind schedule and closing was at 10p. Thank you for the hospitality. A little bit of kindness goes very long way.

The best steak restaurant in Houston. They have one significant flaw; the wine list. There are no reasonably priced wines on their list and many of the wines they do have are extremely overpriced.
