Claudio Pirollo grew up in Belgium where he soon discovered his passion for cooking as he wandered around his father’s fine Italian épicerie (grocery store) and watched his mother prepare dinner every day. The dual influence of Italy and Belgium triggered Chef Pirollo’s aspirations to develop his knowledge and experience with different flavors.A Trattoria is not a pizzeria, it is an Italian-style eating establishment that is generally much less formal than a ristorante but more formal than an osteria. Located in historic Blagden Alley in D.C.'s Shaw neighborhood since 2015, The Dabney continues to pay tribute to the wonderful farmers, watermen, and purveyors of the mid-Atlantic region whom provide some of the best and most unique products in the country. This was a great experience. From the time we walked in until we left the staff were considerably, attentive, and extremely nice. The energy is inviting. The open kitchen was a nice addition to the experience filling the room with warmth. The menu was clearly designed with deep thought and intention. Would highly recommended.

Bravo Claudio's Table! We enjoyed a variety of superb pasta dishes and salads on a Saturday evening. The ambience is glowing and bright. Service was exceptional -- attentive and personal. And we appreciated the upgrades in soundproofing so that noise is not an issue. We are in the neighborhood and are now confirmed regulars.

One of the best French restaurants in DC . There were 6 of us each ordered different entree from the menu and each of were so delighted of the dish we had chosen . The service is great and the restaurant is beautiful and the mood very festive . I 100% recommend this restaurant.
