Il Violino was established in 1993 by the Mariani family. They are from Villa Santa Maria, a little town in the heart of Italy (Abruzzo) known as La patria dei cuochi (chefs from this town have been executives at the Vatican, the White House, embassies and top restaurants and cruise lines around the world). Il Violino has been one of the original Lincoln Center Italian restaurants and, in these days, one of the few still in operation. What an indulgent meal and fun experience! We had been wanting to try Bad Roman for awhile but the reservations are always full. We finally got lucky! The space is really beautiful and cozy, it feels special. It never got too loud even though it was quite full. Our server was friendly and never far away if we needed anything. Food and drinks arrived quickly and everything was delicious. We loved the shared pasta and the frozen tiramisu especially. Others have wonderful pictures and descriptions of the food, everything was delicious. Best we've ever had? No. But this place is an experience. Some of the dishes are overpriced but you're in Columbus Circle so it goes with the territory. Go have fun and don't worry what the check reads.

We loved our pork chops and salmon dinners. We were fortunate to get a booth because my companion uses a walker and we needed some extra room. One of our favorite places to eat!

First time here in many years and it did not disappoint. We had a delicious meal & several appetizers before. The service was great-very attentive. The pasta dish was amazing as was the shrimp & grits. My son seemed pleased with the salmon jerk bowl, too. The live music was an added pleasure as the female singer & band members were very talented! I would highly recommend!
