The warm, inviting atmosphere was perfectly complemented by the exceptional hospitality of Clare, who made us feel instantly at home.\n\nOur evening began with a beautifully presented beef tartare with hash brown, a dish that perfectly balanced texture and flavor. This was followed by the smoked salmon taramasalata, which was velvety, rich, and delicately smoked—an absolute delight.\n\nFor mains, we started with the hake with celeriac, a dish that showcased the freshest ingredients with stunning execution. The balance of flavors and textures was nothing short of perfection. The lamb rump, however, was the true star—cooked to tender perfection and paired with the most delicious, indulgent potatoes. Every bite was an experience in itself.\n\nTo finish, the chocolate 54% with miso caramel and milk gelato was a revelation. The balance of sweet, salty, and umami flavors made it a dessert to remember—rich, yet not overpowering, and utterly moreish.\n\nThe drinks were equally impressive. My husband enjoyed a superb wine flight, with each pairing thoughtfully selected to elevate the meal. The port he had at the end was, in his words, “out of this world.” Meanwhile, my hard seltzer cocktail was made with precision and finesse, beautifully refreshing and perfectly balanced.\n\nA huge credit goes to Chef Joe Walker and James Peck, whose expertise and passion shine through in every dish. The entire experience was enhanced by the fact that they catered so effortlessly to my dietary intolerances, making me feel completely at ease.\n\nFor a dining experience of this caliber, the pricing is truly exceptional. The Swan Salford is an attractive Edwardian pub in a lovely village setting, just 10 minutes from central Milton Keynes (1-mile jnt 13 M1). From the moment we stepped into the Four Pears, we knew we were in for something special. The warm, inviting atmosphere was perfectly complemented by the exceptional hospitality of Clare, who made us feel instantly at home.
Our evening began with a beautifully presented beef tartare with hash brown, a dish that perfectly balanced texture and flavor. This was followed by the smoked salmon taramasalata, which was velvety, rich, and delicately smoked—an absolute delight.
For mains, we started with the hake with celeriac, a dish that showcased the freshest ingredients with stunning execution. The balance of flavors and textures was nothing short of perfection. The lamb rump, however, was the true star—cooked to tender perfection and paired with the most delicious, indulgent potatoes. Every bite was an experience in itself.
To finish, the chocolate 54% with miso caramel and milk gelato was a revelation. The balance of sweet, salty, and umami flavors made it a dessert to remember—rich, yet not overpowering, and utterly moreish.
The drinks were equally impressive. My husband enjoyed a superb wine flight, with each pairing thoughtfully selected to elevate the meal. The port he had at the end was, in his words, “out of this world.” Meanwhile, my hard seltzer cocktail was made with precision and finesse, beautifully refreshing and perfectly balanced.
A huge credit goes to Chef Joe Walker and James Peck, whose expertise and passion shine through in every dish. The entire experience was enhanced by the fact that they catered so effortlessly to my dietary intolerances, making me feel completely at ease.
For a dining experience of this caliber, the pricing is truly exceptional. Four Pears isn’t just a meal; it’s a beautifully curated evening of indulgence, warmth, and impeccable flavors. Highly, highly recommend!

Charlie seated us & explained to my Mum (who was there for the first time) how the menu & wine paring would play out.
Every course was delicious, the quality & care taken were superb.
Charlie explained each wine, with enthusiasm, professionalism & he was friendly & happy to chat to us about our dogs. He's a real asset to the team, it was a pleasure to meet you Charlie.
