Best Restaurants with a Tasting Menu in Costa Mesa

Taste of Beauty was among our top 3 meals of 2024. We're not vegan or vegetarian--we just like good food. And this was not only good tasting food, but it was also creative/innovative and presented beautifully. We shared a vegan and a vegetarian 8-course tasting menu, plus a dessert, for a total of 17 unique dishes. Every single dish was an exciting revelation. We also deeply appreciated Jun "George" Guo's hospitality in hosting us for a post-dinner tea tasting and for sharing his expertise about teas. We cannot wait to return to try new dishes when they change part of their menu every 6 months--but honestly, we would come back just to eat exactly what we had already because everything was so good!

Comfortable seating environment and smells good to me when entering the restaurant. Love the beef choices and starters. Recommend that garlic fried rice be a little drier.

Lovely service. Laid back. Good vibe. We shared 6 plates. All delicious. Very creative cooking. Loved the broad beans and egg plant dishes. Will definitely come back again.

Nobu's never disappoints. Absolutely delicious food and outstanding service. It's pricey but well worth it. We usually only go for birthdays and other special occasions. We were a party of 6 with one person having a gluten and shrimp allergy and although the menu isn't marked with GF, or GS, the staff is always excellent on guiding to what is GF and which dishes can be made GF. Each time they came to the table with another dish, they always said if it was free from shrimp and gluten and made a point of saying which dishes were not GF. Absolutely one of our favorite places for the last 25 years or so, both the Malibu and Newport locations, and it still is.
