- GGeorgeLondon •2 reviews5.0Dined 4 days agoI booked a table for Valentines day after hearing from a friend that it was a lovely locally run restaurant and it did not disappoint. The service and the ambience was incredible, the dim lighting really adding to the romantic aura of the evening. Locally sourced food at a great price point for the quality of food and service received. I know they change their menu regularly with differing seasonal menus, however we had the Chateaubriand sharer as the main dish which was incredible. Perfectly cooked and great value with all the sides which were included. The starters and desserts also hit the spot, especially the scallops/pork belly and the chocolate torte. The wine menu is also extensive for bottles, with a reduced menu for single glass options. I would 100% go back here and love that it is a local business.More infoThe New London Restaurant and LoungePrice: Expensive• British• Chelmsford•4.7

- MMilesEssex •17 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agoLovely evening out again at this great restaurant. Tasty starters of short rib arancini and a shepherds pie - unusual starter but really works. Then treated ourselves to a chateaubriand to share for main course, which was prepared to our liking. Then finished with a nice selection of cheese and biscuits. A nice touch is that the front of house Harry remembered our drinks selection from a previous visit, however they also offered a chance to change to a different wine that they recommended. Service was not rushed but prompt when required and the venue was busy despite it being the evening before Valentine’s Day. This tells you a lot about the quality of a evening at The House by Hilly Gant.More infoThe House by Hilly GantPrice: Very Expensive• British• Braintree•4.7
