La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversized iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.

Tapas originated in Andalucia, a Southern province of Spain, and are considered a fundamental way of life. These tasty small dishes are traditional Spanish dishes found in every bar, cafe, restaurant, and home. A tapa is an appetizer or snack in Spanish cuisine that can be combined to make a full meal and can be cold (such as mixed olives and cheese) or hot (such as gambas al ajillo (shrimp in garlic) or patatas bravas).     Best restaurant in Newport, outstanding food, outstanding drinks, and outstanding service. As an example of the attention to detail, the waiter even replaced my wife’s white napkin with a black napkin (we didn’t ask for this) so that she would not get white lint on her dark pants!

    Four of us came for our reservation. We had Travis as a waiter. We never bother writing reviews, but Travis was such a lovely, welcoming server that we felt compelled to write him a great review. Highly recommend this restaurant and our server, Travis. He was excellent! Keep him here I!

    We arrived late but it was not a concern for the Mooring staff. One suggestion, on the reservation add a telephone number that you can call to tell them you are running late. The number given does not connect to a real person, and is only informative. Food was great as usual. Please do not sell out to Nicholas S.

    Our server and other waitstaff were fantastic! We had a leisurely dinner and never felt rushed. Dinner was lovely but dessert was the winner tonight. Decorated beautifully for Christmas…greens, wreaths, so many candles glowing and the twinkly lights everywhere made it feel like a Christmas wonderland (side note) because the lighting is dimmed so can enjoy the decor was a big hard to read the menu at the table Maybe an extra little table lamp would help 10 out of 10 experience The Coast Guard is is consistently at the top of the list. You can always count on a great meal and a great experience with some of the best wait staff in the state.
